Although, in recent weeks, information has been revealed that accounts for some problems in Hangar 13, the 2K studio in charge of Mafia, the changes and restructuring were the critical paths for the projects to continue standing. While the studio hasn't made that big of a leap into the limelight with its Mafia installments, plans are in for continuing that goal, and this could result in 2 more games.
HANGAR 13 WOULD BET ON MAFIA 4 AND MAFIA 5
Mafia is a franchise that has remained in force, and it seems that its return is near since a report by Jason Schreier, a Bloomberg journalist, refers to the mention of the following installments of the franchise.
Hangar 13, the studio best known for making Mafia 3 (2016), laid off a number of people this week following the recent cancellations of two games. Those who remain at the studio after a turbulent last few years are working on a new Mafia and a tennis game https://t.co/zzdvi89tcl

According to the report, the above was revealed by Nick Baynes, general director of Hangar 13. He met with the studio's workers in a virtual meeting on the occasion of the dismissal of 50 creatives. The director pointed out that "there are plans and approval is being sought from 2K for the fifth installment of Mafia."
We would not only be talking about the development of Mafia 4, as rumored as a prequel but so far unconfirmed, and the possibility that there is a fifth game betting on maintaining the current IP in an era that does not seem to show a new Grand Theft Auto installment on the horizon.
It should remember that another of the projects that are rumored to be in development at Hangar 13 is Top Spin 5, a game that would represent the return of the 2K Sports tennis franchise.
