The studio is working harder than ever

Seems like all the paperwork is done for Sony and Haven as they have acknowledged the inclusion of Haven Studios in the PlayStation Studios family.

Back in March, the company announced the acquisition of Haven, the game development studio founded by Jade Raymond, a Canadian video game creator, best known for helping create the Assassin's Creed and Watch Dogs franchises.

If you were not aware Haven has been working on a brand new IP for a while, details are scarce but what we know so far is that it is a multiplayer game-as-a-service that will seek to be a social platform where gameplay will be the "social glue" that unites communities.

This game also aims to be a project that lasts for generations, making the community surrounding it a vital piece as they get involved with the game and that allows the service to evolve little by little.

Keep going forward

This brand new acquisition has helped the studio to grow to 106 employees since October 2021 and learned that it is investing more into R&D and the cloud.

In Raymond’s own words: “We already mentioned that we built the studio in a cloud and that was our vision since we started during the pandemic. We didn’t have offices at first and we thought why not innovate […] We had a cloud team initially that was about six people working on new ways to work. Now, we’ve just welcomed another 21 engineers to focus on long-term cloud innovation, because we really believe it’s going to be a game-changer in terms of how games are made.”

We are eager to see what the studio has in the store for us, maybe a pleasant surprise may be waiting for us!

Do you think this acquisition is worth it? As always, let us know in the comments below.
