Batman is dead in the Gotham Knights story. It is not a spoiler but part of the well-known plot and is what leads Nightwing, Red Hood, Batgirl, and Robin to protect the streets of Gotham in the absence of the Dark Knight.
In the comic books on which Gotham Knights is based, characters die and come back all the time, so it wouldn't be a surprise for Batman to return to life in the game... right?
During San Diego Comic-Con, Creative Director Patrick Redding was clear: ''Batman is "really dead" in Gotham Knights, and he dies in the first ten minutes, and that won't change in the rest of the game.'' Dark Knight's arch enemy, the Joker, will also not be a part of this title, according to the developer.
In the interview, he also denied that the Joker appears In this title. He also added: "I do not confirm or deny that Harley Quinn appears," which probably means an appearance throughout history. Another detail mentioned in the event: there will be "exactly one interrogation" of Enigma in all of Gotham Knights.
Batgirl's gameplay trailer debuted during San Diego Comic-Con, giving us a first extended look at Barbara Gordon as the Batman replacement. The superhero looks like a highly versatile fighter, using her weapon in a combination of creative and deadly ways.
The title will follow the story of a Gotham City In which Batman is dead. A new underworld of criminals has spread through the streets of Gotham City. Now it's all up to Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin. It is in their hands to protect the city, restore hope to its citizens, discipline its police, and fright the criminals. Gotham Knights will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store) starting October 25, 2022.
