One of the most successful and iconic series of all time is Breaking Bad, its fan community is enormous, and despite having been out for a few years, there is still a lot of news related to this series.
Today we have the news that the creator of the series, Vince Gilligan, revealed he had the idea of taking the series to a video game adaptation specifically, he had the idea of taking that video game in the style of Grand Theft Auto or creating a new game for PlayStation VR.
THE BREAKING BAD GAMES THAT NEVER CAME TRUE
While it's no secret that Gilligan isn't much of a gamer, he's thought of various ways to bring the series to video games. It was his first proposal to negotiate the game's creation with GTA's style.
"I'm not a big video game player, but how can I not know Grand Theft Auto? I remember saying to the 2 gentlemen who originally approved Breaking Bad: 'who owns Grand Theft Auto, there can be like an [adaptation] of Breaking Bad?'” affirmed the creative in a talk with Inside the Gilliverse (via IGN).
He later spoke about another project that sought to adapt the series into a virtual reality game. His idea was to release it for PlayStation VR, but the idea did not come to fruition either. He also talked about the mobile game that debuted but was short-lived on the market. Gilligan left the doors open for a Breaking Bad game and reaffirmed that seeing a GTA-style title still seems like a good idea to him.
"It still makes sense to me. That never came to fruition. There have been quite a few video game attempts. Some of them made it to market. We tried creating a virtual reality experience with Sony's PlayStation VR device. We made a mobile game that lasted for very little time ”, added the creative.
WHY DOES NOBODY MAKE A GAME ABOUT BREAKING BAD?
This might be common question fans might have. Why not take advantage of Breaking Bad popularity to make a game? Well, Gilligan gave us an answer, and it was simplified that he didn’t want to launch a bad title, he even recalled the case of the chaos of the E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial game for Atari.
Despite all, Gilligan thinks it’s unlikely one of the projects will ever come to fruition. So, is there any chance we will get a Breaking Bad video game one day? That might sound cool.
