Whoops! Sonic Frontiers' launch date (accidentally) confirmed

A Japanese TV spot revealed the game will be out in November

A year ago during the Game Awards, Sonic Frontiers was announced. The game will be an upcoming platform game developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega. As Sonic the Hedgehog, the player explores the mysterious Starfall Islands to collect the Chaos Emeralds after Sonic, Miles "Tails" Prower, and Amy Rose separate from each other when falling through a wormhole.

The only thing we knew so far about the Sonic Frontiers release date was that it would have a Holiday launch. Even though Sega has stressed that they have no plans to delay the open-world platformer, its showings have left many people skeptical about how the final product will turn out.

And now, a Japanese TV spot accidentally released a never seen footage with a confirmed launch date: November 8. As spotted by username Nibellion on Twitter, the footage went live before it was supposed to. That ad was seen by many up until it went private.

According to Gaming Bolt, Sonic Frontiers will receive a screening at Gamescom Opening Night Live later today, so this leaked launch date will likely get officially confirmed there. Meanwhile, the game will also be playable at Sega’s Gamescom booth for those physically attending the event between August 24 and August 28.

Sonic Frontiers is still in development, but it will come out for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
