Nowadays, the battle for the best game includes the best tech involved in its creation. So naturally, this drove many engineers and developers to work on even more shocking visuals and playability for the gaming community. And without a doubt, this ongoing “battle” has paid off.

Unreal Engine’s arrival is a clear example of this, although a new mysterious contender surfaced just a few days ago.

Square Enix filed a trademark for “Radec Engine” on September 1 in Japan. The announcement was made public today Social media has been guessing what this is about; most are aiming their answers at some sort of game engine.

Square Enix currently only has one publicly known internal engine, the Luminous Engine developed by Luminous Productions, headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan, known for Forspoken. However, from time to time, it also uses commercial engines such as Unreal Engine 4 and Unity.

For the time being, Square Enix hasn’t officially revealed what Rdec Engine would be about. But since the TGS is near, likely, we will soon find out what this trademark is all about. Stay tuned for further development on Square Enix and Radec Engine!
