Lupin the Third and Cat’s Eye will get a crossover anime!

Nothing like a crossover to celebrate an anniversary

Next year Lupin the Third will be celebrating its 50th anniversary and coincidentally Cat’s Eye will be celebrating its 40th, how could two works about master thieves will be able to celebrate at the same time? With a collaboration, of course!

Recently, TMS Entertainment announced a new Lupin the Third and Cat’s Eye crossover anime series, which will debut exclusively on Amazon’s prime video on an undisclosed date in 2023. Best part? The anime series will be available globally so you don’t have to worry to wait for months until arrives in the west like many anniversary projects.

Details, please…

The series is officially titled Lupin the Third VS Cat’s Eye, this time using a stylized 3D animation similar to the one used on Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. On the other hand, the plot will be set in 1980s Japan, at the same time period as Cat’s Eye‘s serialization. Speaking on production, the series will be directed by Kobun Shizuno (Detective Conan movies) and Hiroyuki Seshita (Blame!). Both directors have worked together on the past three CG-animated Godzilla films and in the Knights of Sidonia Movie.

On the other hand, little is known about the cast, so far has been announced that Lupin will be voiced by Yoshiyuki Kurita, who also voiced the character in Lupin III: The First, while Hitomi Kisugi one of the main protagonists of the Cat's Eye series and the middle sister of the Kisugi Trio will be voiced by Keiko Toda.

Without further due here is the official trailer:
