For many people, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, the world-famous E3, has already left its best years in the past. After trying to adapt to the needs of the industry and even stopping doing the event this year, the return of the expo in 2023 was confirmed a few months ago.
For this new edition, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) decided to ally with ReedPop, the company behind events such as PAX, New York Comic Con, and Star Wars Celebration. Now, we finally have big news about changes for this revival of the iconic show.
E3 2023: June looks promising
Throughout its history, E3 has gone from being an event dedicated exclusively to business to opening up for the international press and finally opening its ports for the general public. However, this will be the first time that everything will be segmented.
Next year the event will take place physically from Tuesday, June 13 to Friday, June 16 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The first two days will be dedicated exclusively to the press and business. The third day will be a business/consumer day, and the fourth will be exclusively for consumers.
Consumers will go hands-on with upcoming games and interact with developers, content creators, and more. Media registration opens up in December.
“E3 is one of the global gaming industry’s few opportunities to come together, unite as one loud voice, and show the world what it is creating,” ReedPop VP of gaming Kyle Marsden-Kish said in a statement. “Our vision is to reunite the industry by reestablishing the traditional E3 week, bring back that spark, and restore E3’s role as a truly magical global showcase event for game creators and consumers.”
Remembering, the team had set three goals with this new E3:
- Turn it into a business event where it's easier to connect and have interviews
- Give consumers a better experience with activities dedicated to them
- Associate and be friendly with everyone who announces during and around E3, regardless of whether or not they will be physically present
