Mortal Kombat goes RPG with Onslaught!

NetherRealm unveils mobile spin-off

As part of Mortal Kombat's 30th-anniversary celebrations, NetherRealm Studios surprises fans of Ed Boon's iconic fighting game by officially announcing Mortal Kombat Onslaught, a spin-off 'with an exclusive cinematic story.

Made in collaboration with Warner Bros. Games, Mortal Kombat Onslaught will take the shape of an RPG that, according to NetherRealm's studios, will feature the series' first exclusive cinematic experience on mobile devices, meaning this is undoubtedly not Mortal Kombat 12.

What do we know about this game so far?

According to CBR, throughout the adventure, players will have to complete a whole series of assignments to set up their own team of combatants drawing from an extensive roster of characters from all chapters of the series.

The battles staged on iOS, and Android devices will be real-time and involve the different factions of combatants created by players against the backdrop of a story centred on defending each character's kingdom from a mysterious and dark threat.

For now, we need to be patient. We look forward to witnessing the first gameplay scenes and getting a small taste of the cinematic experience promised to us by NetherRealm and WB Games with Mortal Kombat Onslaught, which is scheduled to launch during 2023 on the App Store and Google Play.
