Throw a coin to your Witcher! O' Valley of Plenty, because the fourth season of The Witcher is coming on Netflix. But that's not all, Geralt of Rivia is changing identities: in fact, it was recently confirmed by the streaming platform itself that Liam Hemsworth will take Henry Cavill's place in the title role.
Yes, we must say goodbye to the iconic Henry Cavill. The actor played the protagonist of The Witcher for no less than three consecutive seasons, delighting his viewers with his brutally strong performance. Don't despair because you can still see him as Geralt of Rivia, given the release date of The Witcher's third season set for summer 2023.
Is Henry mad about this change?
There is great mutual respect between the two actors, and Cavill's words on the subject prove it: "the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam's take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men."
Hemsworth had this to say about the role, "As a Witcher fan, I'm over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia. Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I'm honored that he's handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf's blades for the next chapter of his adventure."
In case you missed it: CD Projekt Red insists that The Witcher 3 for next-gen consoles will arrive this year.
In addition to the prequels to The Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones, there will also be a prequel to The Witcher. The Witcher- Blood Origin will debut on Netflix starting next December 25.
