Yesterday we reported on how Xbox offered a deal to Sony to keep the Call of Duty franchise for 10 years if Microsoft's purchase of Activision Blizzard is completed.

Sony did not respond to that agreement, but now Jim Ryan, head of Sony Interactive Entertainment, has reaffirmed that the contract may be detrimental to gamers.

For this, Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, stated that Sony was exaggerating its position, but Ryan disagrees with this.

HOW WOULD NOT HAVING THE CALL OF DUTY FRANCHISE AFFECT PLAYSTATION?

Xbox believes that Sony and PlayStation have exaggerated their statements about Call of Duty in an attempt to get regulators to pay more attention to the case and review everything in detail. In case you don't remember, Sony stated that the franchise has no rival and that it must continue on PlayStation to compete.

This is because the Japanese company fears losing the franchise and its players will leave PlayStation. Now, Ryan claimed that "it is not true" that Sony misleads regulators with all its statements about Call of Duty.

On the other hand, the Sony executive still believes that purchasing Activision Blizzard may be counterproductive due to Microsoft's history in various industries. From his point of view, the acquisition will directly impact gamers and the number of options they have to enjoy video games.

“It is a technological giant with a long history of dominating industries (…) the options that players have today will likely disappear if this agreement goes ahead,” Ryan said during an interview with The New York Times.
