Although Kid Icarus Uprising garnered praise from critics and audiences upon its release in 2012, the series starring the angel warrior Pit did not continue any further after the last game released on the 3DS, and there was nothing to suggest that Nintendo would sooner or later pick up the brand.
Last summer, however, insider Zippo, who has always been very active regarding rumors and anticipations related to the Big N, hinted that a Kid Icarus Uprising Remastered would be in development for Nintendo Switch, but he has not provided any further updates since then, and even from the Kyoto-based house everything has continued to remain silent.
Attracting fans' attention again, however, was a curious quip by Masahiro Sakurai, director of Kid Icarus Uprising, during a new video on his YouTube channel focused precisely on Pit's latest adventure and, in particular, its elaborate difficulty system.
After explaining how he and his team came up with that particular setting, what made one suspicious was Sakurai's comment at the close of the clip: "It sure would be nice to play Kid Icarus Uprising on a home console, who knows if anyone will ever make a porting?" the celebrated game designer concluded, hinting at a final smile.
In case you missed it: Samurai Maiden shows an extensive and interesting gameplay trailer.
Of course, Sakurai's words do not necessarily mean that a re-release of the latest Kid Icarus is really in the works; however, the fact that it was the game's creator himself who hinted at the matter is still a curious fact. All that remains is to await any news from Nintendo on whether Kid Icarus Uprising Remastered is really in the works.
