God of War TV show officially green-lighted!

Coming via Amazon Prime in the future

The TV adaptation of God of War was announced back in March and while it was in the development stage chances were that the project could have been ditched, fortunately, this is not the case. Officially Amazon has greenlighted the adaptation with Rafe Judkins serving as showrunner on the adaptation, and Oscar nominees Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby in charge of the writing and executive producing with Judkins.

Did you know?: God of War appears in the Xbox store but not in the way we imagined

The TV series is composed of an incredible production team, as we said Judkins, Fergus and Ostby are executives producing along with Santa Monica Studio creative director Cory Barlog, PlayStation Productions’ Qizilbash and Carter Swan, Santa Monica Studio’s Yumi Yang and Vertigo’s Roy Lee. Santa Monica Studio’s Jeff Ketcham is co-EP. Also is worth noting that this production is possible thanks to Sony Pictures Television, Amazon Studios and PlayStation Productions association.

In case you are not aware, this TV series is based on the God of War reboot of 2018, according to their official description; “When his beloved wife dies, Kratos sets off on a dangerous journey with his estranged son to spread her ashes from the highest peak — his wife’s final wish. Kratos soon realizes the journey is an epic quest in disguise, one which will test the bonds between father and son, and force Kratos to battle new gods and monsters for the fate of the world”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony Pictures TV president Katherine Pope pronounced herself after the good news:

“We are so proud and excited to be working with our friends at Amazon Studios and our partners at PlayStation Productions to adapt this beautiful and heartbreaking game into a premium live-action series. Rafe, Mark and Hawk are crafting a transportive series that charts a path through the ancient mythological journey of Kratos.”

PlayStation Productions head Asad Qizilbash pronounced himself too: “God of War is one of PlayStation’s most awarded video games, so we’re excited to partner with Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios to bring our beloved franchise to fans and new audiences in a bold and authentic way.”

We are not gonna lie we are really excited to see the final product, however, the video game adaptation projects are growing faster than ever. Can every production house keep up with the pace?
