We knew that the Japan Fair Trade Commission had been considering the much-discussed case of Microsoft's acquisition of Activision-Blizzard. According to reports online in recent hours, it appears that the Asian regulator has given its approval on the matter.
We cannot yet take the information for sure. Still, according to reports from the Xbox Arabia Twitter account, the Japan Fair Trade Commission approved Microsoft's takeover attempt. According to what we learned, the Asian antitrust authority found no valid reasons for blocking the deal, and there was no opposition to deciding to stop the deal.
Why could this be true?
Although it has expanded its interests within the Asian market in recent years and has managed to place more consoles here with the arrival of the Xbox Series X/S, Microsoft does not represent a slice of the market in Japan comparable to those held by Sony and Nintendo instead.
Probably, this has led the Japan Fair Trade Commission to believe that the Redmond company cannot create a monopoly around itself, net of the acquisition of a giant publisher like Activision and all its attached studios. In any case, we remain to wait for official and final confirmation on the decision made by the Japan Fair Trade Commission.

Meanwhile, the Federal Trade Commission continues its battle against the acquisition, saying it is not interested in the greater good promised by Microsoft.
