ATLUS has made a name for itself worldwide thanks to its JRPG franchises, especially Persona. Fans of the studio have been waiting for the announcement of a new installment and today they finally got their dream, but they won't be entirely happy.

ATLUS and SEGA announced today a new game in the Persona series, precisely the Persona 5 sub-series, which will be called Persona 5: The Phantom X and will be a spin-off since the events of the title will be set in the universe of the series.

Persona 5: The Phantom X will feature a completely new story and protagonists that have never appeared in other games in the series. The main character (codename Wonder) is a high school sophomore living in Japan whose parents travel a lot. One day he wakes up with the ability to manipulate People. Thus the young man attends school during the day and when he leaves he travels to "various worlds."

As in Persona 5, players will be able to use the period at Kiba Academy to engage in conversations with other young people, such as a blonde from the same year named Arai Suwa (codename Closer) whose Persona will be Arveda. It will also be possible to meet Merope, a new assistant of Igor in the Velvet Room.

What else do we know so far about this new title?

The character who will take the place of Morgana in this title will be Luffy (codename Cattle), a creature that can take the form of an owl and can talk to humans. His persona will be Rob Roy.

This upcoming title is a free-to-play game, which apparently will have a microtransaction model, although it was not revealed how it will affect the adventure itself. At the moment it is only confirmed for China; the supported platforms are mobile devices with iOS or Android. Persona Central refers that it will also be possible to play it on PC, but official sites do not mention it.

Persona 5: The Phantom X is developed by the Chinese company Perfect World, with supervision from ATLUS, responsible for the IP. There is no release date yet, but those interested in the project will be able to play it soon, precisely on March 29, when public testing of the game will begin.
