It's been many years since the most recent Mortal Kombat title hit store shelves worldwide. Fans are eager to discover what's new for the popular fighting franchise, and everything seems to indicate that news is coming soon.
Rumors have been circulating that the hypothetical Mortal Kombat 12 will make an official appearance at some point in May. These reports gained strength after the developer NetherRealm Studios shared a teaser.
Now, a new video suggests that the official announcement of the new game is very close.

This week, Ed Boon and the franchise's official Twitter account shared a 17-second clip that shows a clock next to the text "It is almost time". While the message is cryptic, players found a pattern that sheds light on the possible story the new title will present.
Specifically, it drew attention that the second hand of the clock marks from 9 to 11, but skips 12 and goes directly to 1. Players believe that the numbers represent the last games in the series: Mortal Kombat 9, Mortal Kombat X, and Mortal Kombat 11.
Thus, everything seems to indicate that the new entry will be a new beginning for the fighting franchise, which coincides with previous theories. We must remember that the last reboot took place in 2011 with the ninth main title. Although it remains to be seen if the timeline will be reset once again, the end of the Aftermath expansion of Mortal Kombat 11 left the door open to that possibility.
We have to wait for more details about the new fighting title, but an insider indicated that DC Comics' Peacemaker and The Boys' Homelander could be guest fighters.
