The irony! That's what some FIFA fans think after EA Sports made a decision that impacts the latest installment of the franchise, stemming from a scandal that took place in English football and the relationship of a player with a betting scene.
FIFA 23 REMOVED BRENTFORD STRIKER DUE TO A BETTING SCANDAL
Recently it was announced that the English football league authorities had imposed an 8-month suspension on Brentford striker Ivan Toney after it was proven that he had bet against his team on several occasions. If you didn't know, a player being involved in a betting scene directly related to their activity is an act that violates league regulations, and therefore an exemplary sanction is imposed. Following this, EA Sports decided to remove the forward from FIFA 23's records, and he will not be in the starting lineup for EA Sports FC, thinking that he may return to play in England.
However, the decision angered FIFA 23 players because there are strong criticisms and opposition to Ultimate Team's loot box system in the UK, and before the pandemic, it was a topic to be discussed in Parliament.
