PewDiePie will step away from YouTube indefinitely for a good reason

The gamer and content creator will soon embark on one of the most exciting stages of life

Despite being the second YouTuber with the most subscribers and enjoying a high level of popularity, the legend Felix Kjellberg, better known as PewDiePie, will bid farewell to YouTube for a good reason.

The content creator gained fame on the video platform in the past decade thanks to his gameplay videos of games like Minecraft, Five Nights at Freddy's, and Slender. Although he hadn't been uploading videos as frequently in recent months, PewDiePie continued to entertain his over 111 million subscribers with weekly videos.

The content of the videos was also somewhat different, as it became more common to see videos of his experiences with his wife Marzia "CutiePieMarzia" Kjellberg in Japan, after both of them moved to the Asian country to start their life there.

Why is PewDiePie leaving YouTube?

As part of this new stage in their lives, the Kjellberg couple had planned to have a child, and in early 2023, they confirmed that they would become parents. The birth of the couple's first child is approaching, which is why PewDiePie said goodbye to YouTube.

You read it right, the content creator will step away from the platform to spend time with his family, as the role of a father is demanding and he wants to enjoy it to the fullest. Besides, he certainly doesn't need to make daily or weekly videos.

"It's very close... I'm close to becoming a dad. I'm very, very, very excited. I don't know how it's going to be," Kjellberg commented. "I don't know if I'm going to have time to make videos, it's going to be chaos... I don't know."

Kjellberg didn't mention how long he will be absent, but he hinted that it will be a temporary farewell, something that fans celebrated by wishing him the best.

"But I imagine I'm not going to upload videos for a while. I just wanted to say 'thank you' for all the support on these vlogs, we're very happy that you liked them and that we could share a bit of our lives here, but for now, we think we'll take a break until we come back again, and I just wanted to let you know. Thank you."

It's important to mention that one day after the announcement, PewDiePie uploaded a new video. This doesn't mean that the farewell wasn't serious, but rather that the content creator had already prepared this video and simply published it before taking his break.
