Will Final Fantasy XVI have DLC? Square Enix considers the possibility

Producer Naoki Yoshida acknowledges that many players want to know more about the story.

Final Fantasy XVI debuted in mid-June to very good reception. Undoubtedly, one of its strongest points is its story, which presents a darker and more dramatic tone. Fans are wondering if it's possible to learn more about the world of Valisthea and the characters through downloadable content.

Prior to the game's release, producer Naoki Yoshida revealed that Square Enix had no plans to release DLC for the JRPG. The reason? All efforts were focused on completing the game and ensuring its launch. However, he left open the possibility of seeing new content if there was enough interest.

"While we always consider DLC, spin-offs, or those kinds of things where you can learn more about the game, we first want to see if Valisthea and Clive are things that players from all over the world want to see more of, and then we will make a decision," the Japanese creative stated.

DLC for Final Fantasy XVI is now a possibility

Now that the game is available in stores and players have had a chance to try it, it seems that the team is more open to the possibility of releasing DLC in the future. This was hinted at by Naoki Yoshida in a recent interview.

Specifically, the producer acknowledged that they heard the fans, who have already expressed their desire to learn more about Clive Rosfield and the rest of the characters who accompanied him on his journey. Without revealing many details, he assured that they take those comments into account.

"When we delved into Final Fantasy XVI, all we wanted was to create a complete story, something that could be enjoyed from beginning to end 100% without any DLC. I think we were able to achieve that. But now we understand, we receive feedback from players, and many want to see more; we know it, and we understand it. From our side, we take it into consideration and think about our options. So we hope to offer something in the near future," Yoshi-P emphasized.

Considering that Final Fantasy XV and Final Fantasy VII Remake received downloadable content that expanded the narrative and gameplay, it's easy to imagine that something similar could happen with Clive Rosfield's adventure.
