With Mortal Kombat just around the corner, fans are eager to discover which characters will make up the final roster. During this weekend's EVO 2023, the identity of a new fighter will be revealed. Who will it be? It's hard to say, but the community believes it has enough pieces to solve the puzzle.
Reptile could return in Mortal Kombat 1
Once again, clues are coming from Ed Boon's official Twitter account. Through a post, the franchise's co-creator and creative director at NetherRealm Studios shared a photo of a restaurant with the caption: "Reptile, the secret ninja, was born here 31 years ago."
Of course, the mention of the fighter in the previous tweet is more than enough to excite fans; however, the situation became even more interesting. In a later post, the creative director shared the same photo with the message: "What does this restaurant have in common with EVO?"

When both posts are put together, it seems that Ed Boon is hinting that Reptile, the popular character who started as an Easter egg in the first installment of the franchise, will return in Mortal Kombat 1 as a selectable fighter and that the official announcement will take place at EVO 2023.
During his time at the competitive fighting games event, the NetherRealm Studios creative director also shared photos of the community's cosplays. One of the costumes was of the Zaterran, further increasing fans' speculation and hype.

Fortunately, it won't be long until the development studio releases the new trailer for the fighting video game. Although the grand final of the Mortal Kombat 11 tournament at EVO 2023 took place on Friday night, the revelation will happen at some point on Sunday, August 6. We might get to know the identity of more than one fighter, just like in previous trailers.
Reptile first appeared as a secret ninja in the original installment of the franchise. He became a selectable fighter in the sequel and has since become one of the most recurring characters. His last appearance was in Mortal Kombat X, although he had a cameo in Mortal Kombat 11's Krypt mode.
