UMVC3: Community Edition is a mod that compiles the best fan projects

Since its release in 2011, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has solidified its place as one of the most beloved fighting games among genre enthusiasts. Despite more than 10 years passing since its original launch, it still maintains a highly passionate community. It's now set to reach new heights thanks to the efforts of a talented group of modders.

In recent years, the fighting game that brings together comic book characters and the Japanese company has received ambitious mods that added unreleased characters. Many of these fighters have unique abilities and dialogue lines, making them more than simple skins.

Now, the community aims to culminate these efforts and bring together the best unofficial modifications into a single package for the delight of fans. That's right, they want to create the ultimate version of the acclaimed fighting title.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 lives on thanks to the fans; ambitious mod adds 50 new characters

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Community Edition is a mod for the 2011 video game that will include up to 50 new characters created by fans. The list includes Sakura, Ken, and Guile from Street Fighter; Thanos, Spider-Gwen, and Carol Danvers from Marvel; Leon S. Kennedy from Resident Evil, and many more. There are even additional skins for some fighters.

The developers were able to incorporate these fighters without replacing the original game's roster, thanks to a special engine that allows adding new slots on the character selection screen.

These additional characters are mods that debuted in recent months, but they will soon be gathered in this ambitious PC project. Additionally, the preview revealed the identities of 4 fighters never before seen in the franchise: Dan Hibiki from Street Fighter Alpha, The Thing from Fantastic Four, Gen from God's Hand, and Nero from Devil May Cry 5.

Unfortunately, the creators of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Community Edition refrained from revealing the release date of this massive mod that will expand the fighter roster. However, they did encourage fans to support the Japanese company and purchase an original copy of the game on Steam.

But tell us, what do you think of this mod? Would you like to see an unreleased installment of the franchise? Let us hear your thoughts in the comments.
