Imagine you have a brand new Steam Deck and by a major oversight, you practically cook it and almost completely ruin it. Well, that's what recently happened to one unfortunate gamer who mistakenly melted his laptop PC.

The reddit user known as /u/MisterColeman told his sorry tale and shared images of his completely destroyed system. According to the details, this happened as the gamer left the system near a stove.

Steam Deck was destroyed by the heat of a stove

The gamer told how he placed his Steam Deck in the kitchen, but made the mistake of leaving it too close to a hot stove. By the time he realized it was too late, as his laptop PC had already suffered considerable damage.

A picture shows the system completely melted from the back. The casing could not withstand the intense heat of the stove; however, it appears that some of the internal components were spared. Because of this, the gamer believes that his Steam Deck is still repairable.

In fact, he has already set to work, having purchased a new casing and also plans to replace the battery. He also stated that he already cleaned the system and removed all traces of melted plastic. So, apparently, at last the Steam Deck will be saved from almost certain death.

"It’s actually in better shape than it looks. The case does a good job of protecting the internals. I already bought a new back plate; I figure even if Valve agrees to repair I can put it on when I get the deck back," the gamer commented. Below you can see a picture of the Steam Deck:
