Xbox: Anyone can make a video game with AI

Tim Stuart spoke about the future of gaming thanks to these technological tools

Microsoft has shown great interest in artificial intelligence, and it is believed to be ahead in a new technological race against other companies. The possibilities for the future are numerous, and in the case of video games, it seems like an inevitable reality, although it would also mark the beginning of a gaming era never seen before, as Xbox warns.

Xbox believes that AI will allow anyone to create a video game

During his participation in the Wells Fargo TMT Summit (via VGC), Tim Stuart, Chief Financial Officer of Xbox, talked about the changes that the video game industry could undergo in the future with the rise of artificial intelligence tools. According to the executive, advances in this sector could lead to an era where anyone with a good idea can create a video game because the process would become simpler, at least to a certain extent, and not in terms of high-quality or complex productions.

In that sense, Tim Stuart stated: "Anyone in this room can be a game developer. Your local Starbucks barista has an incredible idea for a game and can now use Copilot and AI to create a great mobile experience."

AI will cause changes in the artistic and level development aspects of video games

Later, the Xbox executive pointed out that while the future of gaming with more advanced AI tools seems somewhat distant, it is something that can be accelerated at the least expected moment, and he believes that the first developments in this regard will be related to the creation of scenarios and the artistic aspect: "a fairly rapid acceleration in the process of creating and combining art, code, and level design, which will lead to developing some great games in a short time."

Currently, there is a game development scene that has transitioned from indie efforts to a less specialized audience, thanks to platforms like Roblox and Fortnite, which offer users the possibility to create a gaming proposal without many complications.

In recent weeks, Microsoft was in the midst of the OpenAI controversy, a company specialized in artificial intelligence tools and responsible for ChatGPT. An internal situation resulted in the dismissal of Sam Altman as CEO. Subsequently, Microsoft pressured the company by announcing that Altman would join them in a highly advanced AI program. In the end, OpenAI reconsidered its decision, Altman returned as CEO, and Microsoft emerged stronger than ever in the burgeoning field of artificial intelligence.
