There are few studios in the industry dedicated to the psychological horror or terror genre in the video game industry. Without a doubt, one of the most important is Bloober Team, and a slew of genre titles produced in past years attest to this. Today, they have just announced one more.

As part of the celebrations for its 15th anniversary last October[/url], Bloober Team teased "hair-raising birthday surprises" that they would reveal in the coming months, and they didn't keep fans waiting, as today they unveiled one in collaboration with Skybound Entertainment.

What new game are Skybound and Bloober Team working on?

Through a statement, Bloober Team revealed the partnership, which will involve the development of a game based on one of Skybound Entertainment's franchises.

In case you're not familiar with Skybound Entertainment, it's an entertainment company founded by Robert Kirkman and David Alpert, responsible for franchises like The Walking Dead and Invincible.

Given the early stage of the project, not many details were provided about the gameplay or even which franchise it will be. However, it was revealed that the game's codename is R and it should be ready by 2025. Some fans believe it could be a spin-off of The Walking Dead, although they don't rule out it being related to Outcast given the horror theme of that franchise.

"This project is another step in our second-party strategy, in which we work with external partners to provide our expertise in horror," said the studio's CEO, Piotr Babieno (via Gematsu). "These are titles that are intended not only to bring us financial gains but are the next steps in the implementation of our strategy for the end of 2027. We've known our friends at Skybound for a long time, and I'm sure it will be a successful collaboration."

The Polish studio recently released The Final Prologue, a free DLC that served to expand the universe of Layers of Fear, and it is known that they are currently working on 3 projects: the remake of Silent Hill, the game in collaboration with Take-Two Interactive, and the game just announced in conjunction with Skybound Entertainment.
