Will the console war ever end? It's no secret that many players argue on social media every time a major exclusive is released. Recently, PlayStation and Xbox fans have been fighting for weeks over one of the most popular releases: Helldivers 2. And yes, comparisons were inevitable.

Arrowhead Game Studios' project was one of the big surprises of 2024. Although we knew it was in the works, few imagined it would be a overwhelming success that would dominate the popularity charts. Due to its exclusivity with PlayStation 5 and PC, controversy reared its head.

Shortly after the release, fans created a petition hoping the cooperative FPS would come to Xbox Series X|S. In parallel, Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft Gaming, expressed regret that the game is an exclusive. And as expected, many fans are arguing on social media.

Since both Helldivers 2 and Halo Infinite are science fiction proposals where armored soldiers fight against threats of alien origin, many did not hesitate to compare both exclusive titles.

On social media, a fan directly attacked Xbox fans, calling them "Xbots," and claimed with an image that Sony Interactive Entertainment's cooperative FPS is superior to 343 Industries' shooter. The post caught the attention of an Arrowhead member, who disagreed with the comparison.

In the comments section, Johan Pilestedt, creative director of Helldivers 2, called for an end to the rivalry and fights, stating that fans can enjoy both games without any problem. Thanks to his assertive and sensible comment, he earned the applause of thousands of players on social media.

"Why compare? Just let players love and enjoy both, one, or none of the games. We need more compassion and unity in the world, and less rivalry," commented the director.

In response to another fan, Johan Pilestedt agrees that friendly rivalry is good, but he clearly won't be swept away by the giant wave that is the endless console war. "Neither monopoly nor fierce competition make the world a better place," he emphasized.
