The closed beta of Sea of Thieves for PlayStation 5 has already started and has registered some problems that, ironically, are good news for Microsoft and Xbox. The thing is that a lot of Sony console users are interested in Rare's pirate game, so the servers have suffered a bit during the first days of the test.
We know there are longer than normal wait times to enjoy the game on PlayStation 5, which is a sign that the title is sure to be a resounding success at its official launch. Rare reported the problem and thanked players for their understanding.
Sea of Thieves[/i] servers on PS5 are running overcrowded
The Closed Beta of the title started yesterday and will conclude next April 15. This test will allow new players to get to know the basic mechanics of the title and explore its world. It is also an opportunity for Rare to test the servers to avoid problems during the launch.
The studio revealed that it has already faced some difficulties, as the Closed Beta has registered a high volume of participants. This has generated longer waiting times to be able to navigate the game's seas.
This has not only affected PS5 users who have just started their adventure, as it also impacted recurring players on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. For such reason, Rare warned the community about the problem through its social networks.
"The PlayStation 5 Closed Beta is currently experiencing a high volume of new players, which may result in longer waiting times than normal as pirates enter the Sea of Thieves. Thanks for your patience, everyone!," the studio stated.
Although the player experience was affected, the game's success on Sony's console is excellent news for Microsoft and Xbox. We know that the companies will look into the possibility of bringing more of their titles to the other consoles if the pirate title is a success on PS5.
