Xbox has several partners currently working on exclusive games for its ecosystem. One of them is Avalanche Studios, a company preparing Contraband, a title that was revealed in June 2021 and from which we have had no news since then.
According to Jez Corden, editor of Windows Central, the game's development is not on track. This is because the project is facing several difficulties to move forward and, in addition, the source claims that it has lost important creatives since its announcement.
Contraband suffers from problems in its development
All indications are that the lack of news about Contraband is far from just a whim of Avalanche. Corden claims that the project, formerly known as Project Typhoon, has had a complicated development and that the situation has not improved since its reveal in 2021.
The source claims that the creation of the title was complicated due to the pandemic. It further states that the gamehas lost important creatives from its development team over the months. This has impacted everything related to the direction of the project.
It's not the first time we've heard something similar about Contraband. A report from May 2023 claimed that the title had suffered an internal delay, so it was difficult to talk about a possible release date.
Other sources, such as NatetheHate, believe that there is a slim chance that the title will resurface and debut sometime this year. Having said all this, it is not known what will happen with the project, whose mechanics and concept are still a mystery.
Reports claim that it will be a vehicle combat game, where supposedly various arsenal will be used to try to stop rivals' vehicles. However, Avalanche has not yet confirmed this, as we have not seen gameplay of the game.
