Fans of ELDEN RING are eagerly awaiting the official release of Shadow of the Erdtree, the first and last expansion that promises to offer many hours of additional content. Fortunately, the developers are preparing other surprises for the community.
The acclaimed dark fantasy title debuted in 2022 and received near-perfect ratings thanks to its excellent world-building, challenging gameplay, and memorable characters; however, some fans feel that there are still some features and elements missing.
FromSoftware heard them loud and clear and is currently preparing an update that will add free content and more features that will be available to all players.

New ELDEN RING patch will add this additional content
This week, the development studio announced that on June 20th, they will release a new update, which will also serve as the day 1 patch for the new expansion Shadow of the Erdtree. They also mentioned that from 1:00 AM to 4:00 AM (Mexico City time), there will be server maintenance to apply the corresponding changes.
In addition to bug fixes and balance adjustments, the new ELDEN RING update will introduce more features and quality of life improvements. First, new items obtained will appear with a question mark in the inventory, and a new tab called “Recent Items” will be added, which will be very useful for quickly viewing the latest items picked up in the game.
Additionally, active summoning pools will carry over to New Game+, and individual summoning pools can be enabled and disabled in the new map function menu.
Finally, the upcoming update will add 5 new hairstyles to customize the avatar's appearance. Players can select them during the character creation menu when starting a new game or in their current save file using the item Clouded Mirror Stand or the Rebirth option after defeating Rennala.
FromSoftware did not reveal the specific bugs and balance adjustments that will be implemented in ELDEN RING. It is likely that more information will be shared in the patch notes, which will probably be published at the official release.
While the free hairstyles and new quality of life improvements are not substantial content, it is good to know that the developers have not forgotten the players who have not yet purchased the expansion Shadow of the Erdtree. It is worth remembering that these new features will be available to everyone in the base game.
