For many years, Rod Fergusson was in charge of Gears of War. For this reason, fans of the franchise are curious about his opinion on Gears of War: E-Day. Now a member of Blizzard and in charge of Diablo, he did not remain indifferent to the title's reveal, so he shared his thoughts on the new project from The Coalition.

As many expected, Fergusson is also excited about Gears of War: E-Day and everything it means for the saga. He believes the title will be very good and confessed that it would not have been possible on Xbox 360 for an important reason.

During an interview with GamesRadar+, the creative first clarified that he has nothing to do with the new project. He stated that he is very excited about the title, as he never imagined that The Coalition would go back to E-Day to continue the successful franchise.

"I've had creative involvement in all of the previous nine, so this is the first I haven't had anything to do with. I didn't even know it was going to be E-Day (...) I love what they are doing," Fergusson said.

He later revealed that making a game focused on E-Day during the Xbox 360 era would not have been possible. This is because it involves a massive invasion that would have required more power and technology to represent and do it justice.

Fergusson believes that the game arrives at the ideal time, highlighting The Coalition's work with Unreal Engine 5, Epic Games' engine, and the potential of Xbox Series X. He believes the invasion will be very well represented thanks to current technology.

"It's this massive invasion, where tens of millions of people get killed; we just didn't think we could do it justice on Xbox 360. But now, looking at what The Coalition is doing with Unreal Engine 5, and what they're able to achieve with the Series X, this is the perfect time to have an E-Day story. I'm so excited to see what they do, and I'm proud of them," the creative concluded.
