The Lord of the Rings remains more relevant than ever thanks to new adaptations for television, cinema, and, of course, video games. At the end of last year, fans of J. R. R. Tolkien's franchise enjoyed a new title that debuted on consoles as a PS5 exclusive and on PC.

We're talking about The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria, a game by Free Range Games and North Beach Games that captivated fans with its survival proposal. Very soon, more players will be able to enjoy this experience, as its arrival on Xbox has finally been confirmed.

The good news is that the release is just around the corner and the title will debut for Xbox Series X|S with new content, including the 2.0 version that will offer very attractive additions on all platforms.

The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria is a survival and adventure video game set in the iconic mines of the franchise. Players' mission is to explore the vast and dangerous underground complex to restore and save the ancient dwarf kingdom.

In addition to exploration mechanics, the title features attractive combat and base-building systems. It has an online mode for up to 8 players, who will have to cooperate if they want to survive the mines of Moria.

Through Xbox Wire, it was confirmed that The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria will be available to Xbox Series X|S users on August 27. On the same day, the 2.0 version of the game, known as The Golden Update, will be released on all platforms.

Its main novelty will be a sandbox mode, which will complement the campaign. The difference is that the sandbox mode will be non-linear and players will be able to enjoy games with randomly generated elements. This will add even more replayability to the title.

Additionally, the studios promised that the update will include quality-of-life improvements and will fix some of the flaws in the 1.0 version of the game. The game is expected to cost the same on Xbox as on other platforms, that is, $24.99 USD.
