The Season 2 of the live-action One Piece series is on its way. Netflix will adapt several important arcs from Eiichiro Oda's anime and manga in the new episodes, including the Drum Island arc, which tells the story of Tony Tony Chopper.
This morning, the company confirmed the actors who will portray key characters from this part of the franchise. Specifically, the Dr. Kureha and Dr. Hiriluk, who are essential in the narrative of Luffy's new companion and the rest of his crew.
Who will play Dr. Kureha and Dr. Hiriluk in One Piece?
Fans of the franchise were hoping that Jamie Lee Curtis would portray Dr. Kureha, as the acclaimed actress had shown interest in joining the One Piece universe to bring this character to life.
However, it was known that Lee Curtis had a very busy schedule and couldn’t join the production for Season 2, so she turned down the role. Fortunately, there is now an actress confirmed for this important character in the new episodes.
It’s Katey Sagal, an American actress and singer known for her career in film and television. She has appeared in productions such as The Simpsons, Futurama, The Big Bang Theory, Sons of Anarchy, among many others.
On the other hand, another highly anticipated casting was for Dr. Hiriluk. This character, closely connected to Tony Tony Chopper, will be portrayed by Mark Harelik. The American actor has worked on productions such as Grey's Anatomy, Gilmore Girls, Seinfeld, and others. Fans are pleased with these choices and believe that the actors will do justice to Oda's characters.
It’s worth noting that other prominent characters for Season 2 also now have their respective actors. This week, more creatives involved in the series will be revealed. Below, you can see an image from today’s announcement and the complete list of new confirmed actors so far:
