YouTube is full of gaming celebrities, but few like Shirley Curry, also known as the Skyrim Grandma. The 88-year-old woman won the hearts of players with her gameplays and her great passion for The Elder Scrolls, Bethesda's popular franchise.

After years of being active on the video platform, Skyrim Grandma made a very important announcement this weekend: she will retire from YouTube and will no longer upload gameplays. The woman briefly explained the reasons behind this decision, which of course disappointed more than one fan. On the other hand, she also revealed what she will do with her free time from now on.

Skyrim Grandma began uploading gameplays to YouTube in 2015 due to her passion for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the game that gave her her well-known nickname. Thanks to her charisma and love for video games, she soon gained a significant number of followers, even catching the attention of Bethesda and other companies.

Since then, Skyrim Grandma has created gameplays for countless titles and has become a true YouTube icon for the gaming community. Through a video on her channel, the gamer announced that she would no longer upload gameplay videos.

She explained that she would remain active on YouTube, as she plans to occasionally upload videos where she reads excerpts from various The Elder Scrolls books or stories she has written. However, she will no longer play games to generate content on the platform.

Skyrim Grandma revealed that she used to upload gameplays because it was something fun, but it has stopped being enjoyable, so she decided to abandon them altogether. The community thanked her for all the videos she made and the fun moments she gave her entire audience.

"I'm just doing it for fun and it isn't fun anymore. I'm tired of it. I'm bored with it. I'm bored to death with it. So I am making the decision now, totally, finally. I am not going to be making any more game videos and uploading them,” Skyrim Grandma stated.

On the other hand, she shared that she will now dedicate her free time to knitting, reading more, and possibly writing a book. Her fans know she wants to play The Elder Scrolls VI, so they hope she will return to YouTube once the game becomes available.
