While the PlayStation 5 Pro will offer improvements for thousands of games, only a select few will fully leverage the power of Sony's new console, meaning they will perform better than on the base system. A few weeks ago, there was speculation that Alan Wake 2 wouldn’t see significant improvements on the PS5 Pro, but this turns out not to be the case. Remedy has announced today that the game will be among those with the PS5 Pro Enhanced label.
Remedy announces that Alan Wake 2 will have many improvements when running on PS5 Pro
Remedy Entertainment shared a post today not only confirming that Alan Wake 2 will take full advantage of the PS5 Pro’s power but also detailing the research and experimentation process with Sony’s hardware to include ray tracing, which is absent in the PS5 version. Remedy revealed that the game will have two visual modes when running on the PS5 Pro:
Quality Mode
- 30 fps with ray tracing
- Ray-traced reflections (opaque and transparent)
- 3840x2160 (4K) output resolution
- 2176x1224 rendering resolution
Performance Mode
- 60 fps
- Roughly the same rendering settings (image quality) as PS5 Quality Mode
- 1536x864 rendering resolution
- 3840x2160 (4K) output resolution
- The base PS5 version outputs at 1440p
Additionally, Remedy praised the potential improvements in Alan Wake 2 thanks to the PS5 Pro hardware: "Alan Wake 2 is visually detailed, making it more challenging for ray tracing, especially compared to our previous game, Control. Still, at Remedy, we love challenges. If you have a high-end PC with the right graphics card, you know how great ray tracing looks in Alan Wake 2, and we’re excited to bring this experience to PS5 Pro thanks to its upgraded hardware. With ray tracing, the world of Alan Wake 2 is displayed with more precision than ever before on console, and the image is more stable during complex lighting situations."
