Borderlands 2 may not be the toughest game ever made, but finishing it without taking any damage certainly seems like an almost impossible feat. Yet someone managed to do it after dedicating 800 hours of his life to the task—only to discover that someone else had beaten him by a few hours.
Spent 800 hours completing Borderlands 2 without taking damage, but ends up disappointed
HeyBlatsy, a Twitch streamer who takes on challenging gaming goals, spent 9 months and over 800 hours attempting what no one else had done before: finishing Borderlands 2 without taking any damage.
After countless hours of trial and error, HeyBlatsy achieved his goal on his 112th attempt. Following an epic final battle that you can see on Twitter, the streamer celebrated completing such a difficult challenge.
“My biggest achievement when it comes to route planning. All my years of experience were put to the test in [Borderlands 2], and I managed to pull it off. Another game I thought would be impossible to beat without damage was conquered,” HeyBlatsy shared.
However, what seemed like a moment that would write his name in gaming history turned bittersweet. What happened? It turns out that HeyBlatsy’s challenge inspired another content creator, Darksomke11, to attempt the same. Unfortunately for HeyBlatsy, Darksomke11 achieved it 10 hours earlier, officially becoming the first person to finish Borderlands 2 without taking damage.
“Yes, darksmoke11 managed to finish it less than a day before I did. I’d like to say 10 hours before, but it might have been a bit more,” the streamer shared on Reddit.
Player explains how he completed Borderlands 2 without taking damage
It’s a shame what happened, but how did HeyBlatsy complete Borderlands 2 without taking damage? The player plans to share several videos explaining his approach; however, his strategy involved hiding behind rocks and letting Axton's turret handle the enemies.
“I used a combination of Axton’s turret, Fastball grenades, homing grenades, sniper rifles, and a mix of Lady Fist and The Bee Shield to melt some enemies and bosses,” the player explained.
Incredibly challenging games completed without taking any damage
This isn’t the first or last time a player has achieved something like this. There are highly dedicated fans who have managed to beat extremely difficult games without taking damage.
For example, some players have completed ELDEN RING, Pokémon Platinum, Cuphead, and multiple FromSoftware games without getting hit. With all this dedication, it’s only a matter of time before another player impresses us with their skill and precision.
