The fan revealed a preview of his new and promising project

Bloodborne became one of the standout games on PS4 thanks to its brilliant atmosphere, mechanics, world-building, and its solid difficulty level. Players have been waiting for years for a remake with improvements, a sequel, and a PC port; however, nothing has materialized.

In response, some fans have started projects to expand or renew the Bloodborne universe. Developer Maxime Foulquier announced some time ago that he was working on a remake of the title, aiming to bring the franchise back with a few upgrades.

However, we hadn’t heard any updates on the project for months. Things changed today, as the creator announced that his remake has been canceled due to fears that Sony might take legal action against him. The good news is that he revealed another project also based on Bloodborne: an action RPG set in Yharnam.

In a post on his X account, Foulquier explained that he hasn't worked on the Bloodborne Remake he promised for months. The creator analyzed the situation and concluded that making it was too risky.

As you may already know, most companies don't look favorably on fan-made projects based on their franchises. With this in mind, Foulquier thought about the possibility that Sony might take legal action against him and halt the project at an advanced stage of development.

“Hunters! I haven’t touched Bloodborne Remake for a year for 50 reasons (too big, too risky to finally be C&D),” the fan of the franchise revealed.

An action RPG of Bloodborne is on the way

Despite this, Foulquier hasn’t abandoned his dream of working on a Bloodborne-related project. In fact, in the same post, he revealed Bloodborne Top Down Arena, a spin-off that resembles Diablo.

The developer explained that this is a less ambitious project than the remake, and hopefully, this way he will avoid Sony and PlayStation’s scrutiny. Bloodborne Top Down Arena respects the atmosphere and universe of the original game, so some fans are doubtful the project will survive.

At the moment, there is no release date, but Foulquier will surely share more updates in the future. In the meantime, he revealed the first preview with some gameplay of Bloodborne Top Down Arena:
